5k Run Event Information
Join us for the inaugural SCHABC 5K Balloon Chase, a unique community fun run with a hot air balloon twist.
The race starts at 8:00 AM on May 3rd at Keiser Park in Windsor, California. This is more than a typical 5K. Several hot air balloons will inflate and remain on the ground, creating a spectacular backdrop for your run and for photos at the finish line.
All registered participants will receive a special hot air balloon shaped race bib and commemorative pin. 5K entrants will also receive an event hat.
The 5K course will start and finish in the park at the race arch. Special balloon runners will be on the course for you to chase, adding a fun and interactive element to the event. A 1K option will also be available for those looking for a shorter distance.
Food and merchandise booths will be on site for participants, friends, and family to enjoy throughout the morning.

Race Day and Packet Pickup
Please arrive early to park, meet up with friends, and pick up your race package. Packet pickup will also be available in advance at Sports Basement in Santa Rosa.
Parking
Free parking is available at Windsor High School with a dedicated entrance to the event at 8695 Windsor Rd, Windsor, CA 95492. Additional public parking is available outside the park.
Additional Info
Rides will not be available at this event, but be sure to join us July 18th and 19th, 2026 for the Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Festival. Hot air balloon static displays are weather permitting. The race will be held rain or shine.
This event is organized by an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Proceeds support the ongoing operation and community programming of Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic events.
